Join us for another Thanksgiving Tasting at Museum Village! We'll do a combination of historic recipes right here on the hearth. Visitors will be able to sample small amounts of many Thanksgiving delicacies from the WWI era and Civil War era.
Experience Thanksgiving in 1918, when patriotic Americans were making do so our soldiers and allies could eat. Old favorites such as turkey will be present, with additions such as brown bread sandwiches. Modifications on the familiar, such as cranberry sauce without sugar and chocolate cake made with mashed potatoes will be featured. Other recipes: Parmesan celery, Vegetable soup, Sweet pickles, Corn mush, Chocolate mashed potato cake, "War bread" fruit cake, assorted veggies, Brown bread vegetarian sandwiches and Pie.
